Follow Me Friday Spotlight

I just want to say thanks to Julie at Frugal Shopping With Julie for her spotlight today. I appreciate it.

Walgreens

I had a pretty good trip to Walgreens this week. most figured out what my store wants in terms of coupons, ect... So even though they were out of Coffee Mate, Red Barron Pizza, and Glade Sense and Spray I did get some good deals.

Sammy The Hairspray 5.99 BOGO free - $2.25 coupon from Kroger mailer

Garnier Hairspray 2.99 sale price - $2 ES coupon and $1 mfg coupon

Irish Spring Body Wash 3.99 sale price - $1 from mailer

Sammy Hair Gel 5.99 BOGO free - $5.99 because BOGO free

Dry Idea Roll-on 2.19 sale price - $2.00 IP (I can not still find this one)

J&J Lotion .99 reg price - $.99 from weekly inserts

Used $3.50 RR from last week's toothpaste deal.

Total OOP $4.99 and I received $2 RR from the Dry Idea and $4.49 RR for the Irish Spring Bodywash.

Not to bad for a quick late night trip. Oh and to up date on my missing rebate, due to a technical error my card was not reloaded so they mailed me a new one with my rebates loaded on it. She said it was mailed 3-5. I hope it shows up soon.

Rite Aide

Rite Aide is offering another $5 off $25 coupon good today and tomorrow. When you combine this offer with other coupons, sales, and rebates you can really get some great stuff.

I am excited to be on Rite Aides email list now. So click here for your coupon good 3/13 & 3/14.

Sisterhood Award

I got another award!! :) Thanks so much to Mel at The Cartoon Bubble for giving me this award. I am very excited. I also have to apologize for taking so long to post it. I have had some personal stuff going on and I am trying to figure a few things out about blogging so I have let myself be distracted. I really appreciate the award.

I'm supposed to nominate 5 blogs that show Attitude and/or Gratitude. Here are my 5 nominations for what I love to read:

Walgreens Basics

This is what I got from Walgreens today. I am posting such a small purchase to help a few friends who are just getting started.

As you can see I bought 5 items, it went like this....

Fructis Shampoo sale price $2.99 - $1.00 mfg coupon - $2.00 ES coupon = free

Johnson & Johnson Lotion $.99 - $1.00 mfg coupon = free

3 pkgs Orbit gum on sale 3 for $1.99 - $.99 off 3 coupon from ad = $1.00
So I was OOP $1.58.
So a couple of things to notice, first look at the size of the lotion. No size limit was listed on the coupon so I could get the small size which sells for $.99 and get it free. The second thing is at our Walgreens number of coupons can not be more than number of items so I always look for a cheap extra item to fill in. This is why I always have to pay something.

Mail Call

Look at what I got in the mail today. Sorry for the poor picture quality I am still learning. Ok so what I got.......
1. Seapak Shrimp recipe book with 5 coupons
2. Maybelline make-up sample
3. Huggies Wipes
4. Gain coupons
5. Martha Stewart Living
6. Good Housekeeping
7. Peter Pan rebate $1.99
This was a great mail day. I enjoy getting magazines in the mail and I can't believe I am getting these for free. The other thing I want to point out is the Peter Pan rebate. In the past I never made sure I sent these in now I always do and it is great to get free money. Thanks fellow bloggers I would have never gotten any of this without you.

To Coupon or Not to Coupon?

I was asked to speak at a Women's Club meeting this morning about "couponing". I have always used coupons but I have only begun maximizing coupons in the last few months. I have seen a decrease in my grocery bill and I am getting a good stockpile on some items and I have to admit not so great in other areas.

I was asked the 2 (I think) most common questions. The first "Is it worth the effort?" and the second "Isn't generic cheaper?".

For me the answer to the first question is yes it is worth the effort. I love getting good deals. I love getting stuff for free. It makes me feel good and I am able to give more items to our local charity. Plus I don't spend as much on groceries. I am defiantly learning in this area.

The answer to the second question is no generic is not always cheaper. I do still buy some generic. It has a good price when items I need are not on sale. With Kroger and Walmart being my only real options in my small town I have found I can get the deals without buying generic.

As I mentioned in the meeting this morning I am going to do a better job at letting you know the deals as I get them and try to provide more links to coupons and sites I use for more information.

Sandy at Organizing with Sandy has some thoughts on this too. She is trying to work out the coupon thing.

I hope to be able to post pictures of my coupon binder soon.
